Notch Filters
Notch filters are designed to efficiently isolate a station from one or two specific frequencies operating in close proximity by rejecting those frequencies, but passing all others. They often provide the most cost effective and compact solution for low power installations operating at minimally complex sites. Because tuning is optimized to one or two specific frequencies, notch filters require retuning or replacement by bandpass filters if site conditions changes. In some cases, for example sharply tuned (400 MHz spacing) filters or filters with asymmetric notching requirements, notch filters may be combined with bandpass filters to enhance isolation without compromising electrical performance.
All Shively filters arrive factory tuned not only for frequency isolation, but also to ensure that all critical electrical performance characteristics are balanced. This balance minimizes distortion and results in performance that is unsurpassed in the industry. Should the operating frequency change, bandpass filters other than the 2900 series can be re-tuned in the field to operate at the new frequency with the same performance as the original. In the case of the 2900 series, this retuning capability is limited to the highest 16 MHz of the FM band.
